Nancy Fernandez is a creativity architect who strives to bring out the best in teachers, artists and cultural leaders in order to bridge arts and learning. In her role as Director of VR for Education at Crosswater Digital Media, Nancy is driving curricular integration into the future, continuing the mission of VRBuffalo; a local collective she started with her husband Alex around innovation and collaboration in emerging technologies. A native of Buffalo, NY, Nancy earned her BA in Film Studies from Emory University and her M.Ed. in secondary English education from University at Buffalo. With years of service both in English classrooms and to the Hollywood machine, Nancy, an artist herself, understands the creative process from all sides. She has presented at educational and arts conferences across the country on STEAM learning, creativity and arts integration. As the Cultural Liaison for the WNY STEM Hub, Nancy advocates for the A in STEAM, bringing together leaders in the arts and arts education to support community wide capacity building and the power of arts integration on learning and student growth and achievement.
